SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento Republic FC announced the signing of defenders Jack Avesyan and Jose “Cristian” Gonzalez and midfielders Ivan Mirković and Octavio Guzman, pending USSF approval.
“This group are squad players in whom Preki has seen potential,” said Republic FC Technical Director Graham Smith. “If they realize their potential, they can stake a regular claim in the team.”
Avesyan joins Republic FC after spending last season with the Ventura County Fusion. Prior to playing with the Fusion Avesyan spent time with the Wilmington Hammerheads appearing in 29 matches and scoring four goals.
Gonzalez was a member of the Houston Dynamo Academy for the last three years. He was named the Dynamo Academy's Player of the Year in 2011. Gonzalez started five of six matches on the Dynamo Academy U-17 team that competed in the Eurovoetball Tournament in the Neatherlands.
Mirković joins Republic FC after appearing in 20 matches for the Ventura County Fusion last season. Mirković appeared and started in 39 matches for Fresno Pacific University, prior to playing for the Fusion.
Guzman comes to Republic FC after spending the last three years playing for Chico State Men’s Soccer. Guzman scored 14 goals and recorded 15 assists while at Chico State. As a senior Guzman was First Team All-CCAA, All-West Region and CCAA Player of the Week.
