CLINTON, Miss. -- Mississippi Brilla FC added two key pieces to its 2014 PDL roster with the signings of Len Smith and Andrew Power, teammates at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. Smith and Power bring valuable PDL experience to Brilla, having played for the Midland/Odessa Sockers FC in 2013.
“We are happy to bring in two quality players in Len and Andrew,” said Head Coach Drew Courtney. “They led Midwestern to a No. 13 national ranking in NCAA Division II, so they come to us with a winning mentality.”
Smith, a junior forward from Baton Rouge, La., earned second-team All-South Central Region for the second consecutive season after pacing the Mustangs with eight goals and two assists. He netted ten goals as a Sophomore in 2013.
Power is a junior midfielder from Waterford, Ireland. He is a two-year starter who tallied five goals and two assists in 2013.
“We believe that Len and Andrew have the potential to be impact players for us this season,” said Rusty Bryant, Brilla President. “We are expecting big things from these college teammates.”
Mississippi Brilla FC kicks off its eighth PDL season on May 17 against the Panama City Beach Pirates. The match is scheduled for 7 pm at Clinton High School’s Arrow Field. Visit www.brillasoccer.org for ticket information.
