HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The Harrisburg City Islanders are thrilled to announce the re-signing of forward, Yann Ekra. The Ivory Coast native returns to Harrisburg for his third season with the club. The electrifying forward looks to build off a highly productive 2013 season with the Isles.
The 5-foot-11,155-pound forward played in 24 matches, tallying 1,804 minutes on the pitch in 2013. The 23-year old also netted four goals and dished-out three assists during his time with the Isles in 2013.
Ekra spent the beginning of his professional career with numerous clubs in Europe. Ekra has played with French club Olympique Lyonnais' reserve team, English club Hull City A.F.C. and Greek club, Panionios F.C. After his time in Europe, Ekra signed and played with both the Philadelphia Union and City Islanders.
"We are extremely excited to have Yann back for his third season with the Islanders. He has been one of our best and most consistent players over the past couple years," said Islander Head Coach Bill Becher.
With the 2014 USL PRO season right around the corner, the Islanders are preparing for another competitive and exciting season in the USL PRO. The Isles will kick-off their 2014 campaign on April 5th against the Hammerheads in Wilmington, N.C. The City Islanders' home opener is slated for April 19th against the Dayton Dutch Lions at the Skyline Sports Complex in Harrisburg. Season tickets and group packages are on sale now.
