IRVINE, Calif. -- Orange County Blues FC has officially signed goalkeeper Patrick McLain. The Eau Claire, Wisc. native comes to Orange County after spending the past two seasons with MLS side Chivas USA.
Before signing with Chivas USA, McLain played for four years at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he was named to the All-Big West Conference Second Team during his sophomore, junior, and senior years (2009-2011).
“I’m very excited to join the OC Blues. I’m going to do everything I can for the team and the organization to help us win a USL PRO championship,” said McLain.
General Manager Jon Spencer is glad to welcome McLain to the Blues: “Pat comes to us with some great experience in MLS with Chivas USA. He’s excited to come here and showcase himself on a week in, week out basis as a top goalkeeper in USL PRO. We are very fortunate that we are able to sign him, and hope we can help him further his career. We feel that he is someone that can help us win in USL PRO this year and years to come.”
OC Blues FC’s first home match at Anteater Stadium at UCI is set for Saturday, April 5th, as the Blues welcome expansion franchise OKC Energy FC. The Blues 2014 season begins on Saturday, March 22nd at StubHub Center in Carson, for a match against the newly formed LA Galaxy II.
