CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Eagles are pleased to announce the signings of forward David Geno and defender J.J. Greer.
Geno, 22, a Kingsport, Tenn. native played four years with East Tennessee State University. In his four seasons with ETSU he set a school record in goals (26) as well as assists (19), surpassing the mark set by current MLS player Aaron Schoenfeld. While on the team Geno assisted in making ETSU two-time Atlantic Sun champions.
After his four years with East Tennessee State, he spent the summer of 2013 with the Sounders FC U23 in the PDL, but suffered an injury after two games. Geno scored four goals in a 2013 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup game, the only amateur ever to do so.
Greer, 23, a Memphis, Tenn. native, played collegiately for the University of Memphis for five seasons and finished his last season playing all 18 games and starting in 17 of them. He posted 15 points over his five years at Memphis and played in 72 games. He played more than 90 minutes in at least 14 games of the 2013 season.
Greer also played with the Portland Timbers U-23s following his career at Memphis. He played in 12 games for the Timbers' U-23s in 2013. Greer also participated in the 2013 USL PRO Combine.
