CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Eagles are excited to announce that they have signed Jamaican defender Richard Dixon, pending USSF approval.
"Richard is one of the most athletically gifted players I have ever coached," said Eagles Assistant Coach Dave Dixon. "He will add great depth and versatility to our back line with his ability to play anywhere in the back." Dave Dixon coached Richard Dixon for two seasons at the PDL level with Mississippi Brilla.
Dixon, 24, is a native of Hanover, Jamaica but grew up in Royal Palm Beach, FL. He played collegiately at the University of West Florida, with 2013 Eagles defender James Moore, where he scored 12 goals and added five assists in his career. Dixon was the first player in West Florida's history to win two Gulf South Conference Player of the Year awards. Dixon played in 15 games last season for VSI Tampa Bay FC.
