ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- JC Banks has been using this offseason to improve his game play by joining the Milwaukee Wave in the Major Indoor Soccer League. Banks has helped the Wave reach a mark of 7-1 so far this season, which puts them top of the league standings, as he has nine points in eight games. Dan Gerow caught up with Banks for a Q&A session as he looks ahead to the new USL PRO season.
Dan Gerow - How's Milwaukee treating you?
JC Banks - Milwaukee is great. It’s good to be back home playing in front of family and friends.
DG - What aspects of your game have improved this off season?
JCB - The main thing is that I'm getting healthier and healthier as the season goes on. Indoor is very different and I'm learning a lot but there's lots of touches and defense in indoor is big. So, my defensive side is improving. Also, movement off the ball I think will help outdoor.
DG - When you had time off in Rochester, what did you enjoy doing?
JCB - I'm a “napper” so I took naps every day. Also, I played zombies and established myself as the best FIFA player on the team.
DG - Besides playing indoor soccer, what else have you done this off season?
JCB - Besides spending time with family, coaching mainly. I coached a high school team this fall and helped out with a local club.
DG - What are you most looking forward to about returning to Rochester?
JCB - My first season I learned a ton from Bob so I'm eager to learn more. He's very good at teaching the game and I'm always looking to grow as a player. Lots to learn from him. Things that apply to my game now and for coaching in the future.
DG - Do you have any New Year’s resolutions? If so, what?
JCB - Cook more
DG - What are your expectations for the upcoming season?
JCB - A championship
DG - What's your pre-game meal consist of?
JCB - Chicken and pasta or rice, chicken and broccoli
