WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Wilmington Hammerheads have officially announced the return of defender Tom Parratt for the 2014 USL PRO regular season. Parratt has re-signed with the club, and will return to the Hammerheads for his fourth consecutive season.
“I am delighted to be back for next year,” said Parratt. “Wilmington is my home now and I could not be happier. I am looking forward to seeing who we bring in and getting our preseason underway.”
Last season, Parratt appeared in 19 regular season matches with the Hammerheads while playing a combination of both defender and midfielder. Tallying a team-high of six assists, Parratt was ranked sixth overall in USL PRO for assists in 2013.
Parratt spends his time during the offseason coaching youth soccer programs with Cape Fear Soccer Club in Wilmington.
“Tom is very involved within the community,” said David Irving, Wilmington Hammerheads Head Coach. “He is well-liked and receives a great response from the fans after being with the team for three seasons. He is a great add to the squad with his versatility on the field.”
Born in Inverness, Scotland and raised in Iowa City, Iowa, Tom Parratt made his debut with the Hammerheads in 2011. Prior to relocating to Wilmington and joining the Hammerheads, Parratt returned to Scotland in August 2009 to join Airdrie United for a season. In August 2008, Parratt was with Queen of the South Football Club after finishing his two-year stint with Hamilton Academical in 2006 and establishing himself as the club’s first-choice right back.
