PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Philadelphia Union announced today that the club has signed forward Yann Ekra, who spent the previous two years with USL PRO affiliate Harrisburg City Islanders. The Ivory Coast native will be added to the roster pending a medical and will occupy an International roster spot. Per club and MLS policy, specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Ekra began his career in Europe, spending time with French power Olympique Lyonnais’ reserve team, Lyon B, during the 2007/2008 season. The 22-year-old forward then signed with England’s Hull City the following year, where he went on loan to Panionios FC in Greece.
The Ivorian eventually signed with the Union’s USL PRO affiliate Harrisburg City Islanders in 2012, where he appeared in over 40 matches, scoring 10 goals and tallying four assists in his two years with the club.
