W-League Highlights Top Drawer Rankings

TAMPA, Fla. – TopDrawerSoccer.com released its Top 100 Player Rankings for the upcoming 2013 women’s collegiate season today, with current and former W-League players featured prominently in the list while claiming 48 spots. Leading the list is North Carolina midfielder Crystal Dunn, a 2011 member of the W-League’s Long Island Rough Riders.

A total of 28 players who took part in the recently completed 2013 W-League season were recognized, with 22 different W-League clubs represented.

The 2013 W-League champion Pali Blues had an impressive 11 players included on the list, six of whom were selected for the top 15. Midfielder Sarah Killion (UCLA) claimed the No. 5 spot, while forward Chioma Ubogagu (Stanford), who scored the overtime winner vs. the Washington Spirit Reserves in the W-League semifinals, was No. 8.

Other Pali standouts cited by Top Drawer included defender Kassy Kallman (Florida State) at No. 9, midfielder Daphne Corboz (Georgetown) at No. 10, forward Katie Stengel (Wake Forest) at No. 11, and defender Abby Dahlkemper (UCLA) at No. 14. Pali’s championship opponents, the Laval Comets, were represented on the list by Michigan forward Nkemjika Ezurike (No. 21) and Ohio State midfielder Danica Wu (No. 39).

Each of the other two teams to reach the 2013 W-League Championship presented by Nike had a player included, with Carolina Elite Cobras forward Stephanie DeVita (Furman) tabbed at No. 85 and Washington Spirit Reserves midfielder Ashley Spivey coming in at No. 98.

Current and former W-League stars also selected for the top 15 included Illinois midfielder Vanessa DiBernardo (Chicago Red Eleven) at No. 3, Penn State and New Jersey Wildcats forward Maya Hayes at No. 6, and Rutgers and Toronto Lady Lynx forward Jonelle Filigno at No. 12
