TAMPA, Fla. – The PDL has announced its 2013 award finalists today, with the awards for Most Valuable Player, Young (U21) Player of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year and Coach of the Year to be presented at Saturday’s awards banquet at the 2013 PDL Championship presented by Nike in Austin, Texas.
The Austin Aztex lead the way with four nominations, with Head Coach Paul Dalglish, forward Kristopher Tyrpak (MVP) and goalkeeper Devin Cook (Goalkeeper of the Year, Young Player of the Year) all among the finalists. Peter Caringi of the Baltimore Bohemians and Chad Bush of the Ottawa Fury join Cook as finalists for multiple awards.
The 2013 PDL Championship presented by Nike will kick off at 5 p.m. CT Friday at House Park when No. 4 Victoria Highlanders FC faces the No. 1 Thunder Bay Chill, followed by the No. 3 Ocean City Nor’easters at the No. 2 Austin Aztex at 7:30 p.m. CT. The winners advance to meet for the 2013 PDL Championship on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. CT. All three games will be available live on USLnation.com.
Votes for the PDL awards are submitted by team management. MVP and Young (U21) Player of the Year finalists are determined by All-Conference voting, while the Goalkeeper of the Year is determined based on total All-Conference votes.
