CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Charleston Battery’s Kick for a Cure night on April 30 at Blackbaud Stadium raised mroe than $12,000 for the Lowcountry affiliate of Susan G. Komen and Dragon Boat Charleston. The funds were raised via a jersey auction, ticket sales and merchandise sales at the game.
The Charleston Battery teamed up with Dragon Boat Charleston and the Lowcountry Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® for the Saturday, April 30 match versus the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, the game finished tied 0-0.
The Charleston Battery players wore special custom Pink UMBRO jerseys for the match which were auctioned off immediately after the game with 100% of the proceeds to benefit the two charities.
The Charleston Battery players will continue to show their support this Saturday as they enter a team in the Dragon Boat Charleston festival at Brittlebank Park, downtown Charleston.
