LOS ANGELES - The LA Strikers have signed University of Michigan Wolverine Christina Murillo, Laura Coombs of the Chelsea Ladies and Stanford Cardinal Lo’eau LaBonta for their final push toward the Western Conference playoffs. All three are LA Strikers’ alumni and will be available for the club's final two games of the W-League regular season.
Christina Murillo
University of Michigan, Mexican Women’s National Team
At Michigan Murillo has tallied nine goals in two seasons and was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team in 2011. Murillo, an Ojai, California native, is also a member of the Mexican Women’s National Team. She competed with Team Mexico in the 2012 U-20 Women’s World Cup and the 2012 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
The defender suited up for 13 games with LA in 2011, recording seeing a team-high 1,170 minutes of action. She also appeared in 10 games in 2012, tallying a goal.
Laura Coombs
Chelsea Ladies
Coombs, 22, has played for Chelsea Ladies FC of the English Women's Super League for three seasons. She has also played for England’s U-17 Women’s National team before winning a UEFA Championship with England’s U-19 Women’s National Team in 2009. The midfielder appeared in eight games with the Strikers in 2011, recording a goal and an assist.
Lo’eau LaBonta
Stanford
LaBonta received a PAC-12 Honorable Mention following her five-goal 2012 season which included the equalizing and tiebreaking goals in the NCAA Quarterfinal victory against UCLA. The Stanford Cardinal junior graduated from Los Osos High School in Rancho Cucamonga in 2011 after being named CIF Southern Section’s Best Offensive Player. The midfielder appeared in four games in 2012 for the Strikers.
