Dayton Dutch Lions News Release -- www.dutchlionsfc.com

Thursday, June 27, 2013

DAYTON, Ohio – After a road trip that included a draw against Phoenix and a win over Los Angeles, the Dayton Dutch Lions return home to face the Charlotte Eagles on Friday evening at Beavercreek Stadium. Dayton was able to stay ahead of Charlotte in the USL PRO standings last weekend thanks to the four points the Dutch Lions earned out west. The Eagles, though, are only one point behind the Dutch Lions.

The Dutch Lions have strung together eight games in a row without suffering a defeat, which has run their record to 6-2-4. With 22 points to their credit, Dayton sits in sixth place in the league. With only three points separating the fifth through ninth place teams, the Dutch Lions realize the importance of every contest.

Charlotte was one of the last two undefeated teams in the league before dropping consecutive matches a few weeks ago. The Eagles have rebounded from that mini-slump by earning eight points over their last four matches, including victories over the Chicago Fire Reserves and VSI Tampa Bay FC.

This will be the first match-up between the Dutch Lions and the Eagles this season. The teams competed in a home-and-away series last season. Both games resulted in draws, including a 2-2 finish at Dayton in which the Eagles rallied to find the equalizer in the waning moments.

The Dutch Lions game against the Eagles will be the main event in a full evening of soccer at Beavercreek Stadium. The women of the Dutch Lions W-League team will host the Atlanta Silverbacks at 4:30 p.m. The men are scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m. For ticket information, please visit www.daytondutchlionsfc.com.
