DAYTON, Ohio -- The Dayton Dutch Lions FC return to USL PRO action to take on Orlando City at Miami Valley South Stadium, on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. for "Emergency Responders Night", a night dedicated to recognizing the men and women that serve the Dayton community with proceeds benefiting Hunter Syndrome. The match will be available live at USLlive.com.
"The guys have been practicing very well this week," said Head Coach Ivar van Dinteren. I think the win against The Ohio State University on Tuesday helped us prepare for this weekend’s match. Orlando is a quality team, but it is our time to put on a good showing."
Recovering from last week’s matchup against undefeated Richmond, finishing in a 6-0 defeat, the Dutch Lions are looking to get on the board in their fourth consecutive USL PRO home match. Gaining confidence this past week in their victory against The Ohio State University men’s team 3-1 in a charity match for the Connor Senn Memorial Fund, the Dutch Lions are hopeful the momentum from the victory will carry on to Saturday. The battle of the Lions will mark the club’s first mascot rivalry match.
Orlando, entering the match 3-1-1, defeated F.C. New York last week to extend their road winning streak after previous victory against Charlotte on April 16th. Posting impressive results early in the season, Orlando forward Maxwell Griffin will be a player on the Dutch Lions' radar. The 2010 USSF Division 2-Pro League Rookie of the Year, Griffin has found the back of the net four times this season.
