Saturday, June 8, 2013

LOS ANGELES -- The LA Misioneros FC head to Huntington Beach on Sunday as they take on the O.C Blues Strikers looking to continue their recent winning streak. The game will mark the halfway point of the PDL season for the Misioneros, with the White and Blue aiming to claim their second road win of the season.

"This, our third road game of the season, is crucial to the team," said team administrator Freddy Avellaneda. "We are on a two-game winning treak currently and would like to build up on it."

The Misioneros will be traveling with 20 key players this Sunday, including midfielders Rene Anguiano and Vincent Lucas Weijl who look to help increase the winning streak to three games.

"The team has build a stronger relationship along this short path," said Anguiano. "Each practice session has created a more significant bonding amongst the players."

"We have been playing great, but some of these games have just not gone our way" said Weijl. "I am sure we deserved to have won a pair if not more games, but this is soccer. We have to come back stronger than before which I am sure we will these next games"

The Misioneros will be hopeful of taking victory against a Strikers side that has won only once this season. In their last outing, the Strikers absorbed a 9-1 defeat to FC Tucson on Thursday night. Kickoff fo Sunday’s game is set for 7 p.m. PT.

The Misioneros remain on the road in their next league game on Saturday, June 15 as they visit the Ventura County Fusion at Ventura College. Before that, on Wednesday, the White and Blue will host a friendly game against Team U.S.A. of the Armed Forces.
