WATERLOO, Ont. -- After four long, tiring games on the road, K-W United FC's PDL squad is happy to be returning home for their inaugural home opener, but not without some high expectations. A big half-time performance as well as a very exciting day are planned for United.
Friday is expected to be a big game for the black and blue, who will kick off at 7 p.m., at University Stadium against the River City Rovers. United played the Rovers in their first game of the season on May 23, playing to a scoreless draw.
United are 0-3-1 in their first four games, while the Rovers sit at 2-1-1, which includes a stunning last-minute win over the first-place Michigan Bucks. However, the Rovers will be without leading-scorer John Manga, as well as last week's 'Man of the Match' Napo Matsoso and veteran Ace Gonya.
With the home crowd behind them, which is expected to be a large audience at hand for the inaugural appearance of the PDL team, K-W United FC will look to crack the winless season they've had thus far. United will rely on striker Evan James and Liam Collins, who have played every minute this season, as well as two-time 'Man of the Match' Jack Warburton for experience in the middle of the field.
Goalkeeper Nathan Ingham will look to find to strength in his back four as well as use home field to his advantage as he starts in net for the black and blue.
And special to Friday's inaugural home opener, will be a half-time performance from Juno award nominated band Hollerado. Hollerado will play between halves on University Stadium's field for all fans.
Tickets for this exciting home opener are available at the gate as well as online at kwunitedfc.com for $10. You can follow along for updates at @KWUnitedFC or follow K-W United FC on Facebook.
