LOS ANGELES – The Pali Blues (0-1) will return to action for the first time since their season-opening loss when they take on the newest Western Conference team, the Bay Area Breeze (1-0), at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco tonight.
The Blues began the season with a difficult 2-0 loss to the LA Strikers. Just before the match, the Blues lost forward Mele French to a pulled calf, throwing off the game plan. The Blues struggled throughout the match to find a rhythm.
While the Blues lost their first game of the season, the Breeze began their inaugural W-League campaign with a satisfying 1-0 win over the Santa Clarita Blue Heat last Saturday off a goal provided by Marissa Mykines.
With 13 days without a game, the Blues hoped to recover and heal some injuries, but that has not been the case.
“It has been an incredibly unlucky and challenging start for us,” Head Coach Charlie Naimo said on the matter. “Hopefully we can piece ourselves together and get back on track against two great opponents this weekend.”
Friday’s encounter is set to start at 7 p.m. PT at Kezar Stadium. The Blues will then return to Southern California to face the Blue Heat at The Masters College on Sunday at 5 p.m. PT.
Pali’s next home game will be on Thursday at Occidental College when they host the Colorado Rapids. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. PT.
