CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Charleston Battery (6-2-1) return to USL PRO action on Friday night with a 7:30 p.m. match at Blackbaud Stadium against the Harrisburg City Islanders (5-2-1). The Battery are coming off of a 1-0 Tuesday night win against Major League Soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes in the third round of Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
Club captain Colin Falvey was the hero in Tuesday’s game, scoring a late header past San Jose goalkeeper David Bingham to send the Battery into the fourth round.
Friday’s match between Charleston and Harrisburg will be the second meeting in the 2013 regular season. The Battery came away with a 2-1 victory in the first match behind goals from Mike Azira and Nicki Paterson.
The Islanders have been managed by current head coach, Bill Becher, since 2004 and have experienced success in both the USL Second Division and the USL PRO. They were USL Second Division champions in 2007 and playoff contenders in USL PRO during both the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
In 2012 the Charleston Battery eliminated Harrisburg City Islanders in a USL PRO quarterfinal match.

U.S. Open Cup
After defeating MLS’s San Jose Earthquakes the Battery moves on to a fourth round game against Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake. The match will take place at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah on Wednesday, June 12 at 9:30 p.m. ET.
The win means that the Charleston Battery have now defeated MLS opposition on nine occasions in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup; DC United (1999), MetroStars (2001, 2004), Houston Dynamo (2007, 2008), FC Dallas (2008), Chivas USA (2009), Chicago Fire (2010) and San Jose Earthquakes (2013).
