CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Eagles are set to host the Sounders FC U-23 in the second round of the 2013 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Queens Sports Complex.  The winner of the matchup on Tuesday will play Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire. If the Eagles win they will host the Fire at Winthrop University at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29th.

Seattle comes to Charlotte after beating Doxa Italia of Manhattan Beach, Calif. 5-1 in the first round. Sounders U23 forward David Geno, 21, scored four goals in the first half as the Sounders took a 5-0 lead into the half. Geno, who just completed his junior season at East Tennessee State, was signed by the Sounders U-23 out of the IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. In his junior season Geno ended the year with 11 goals and eight assists in 20 appearances.

Formerly known as the Tacoma Tide, the Sounders FC U23 are a USL Premier Development League team that serves as the development platform for Major League Soccer's Seattle Sounders FC. The head coach is Sounders FC director of youth development Darren Sawatzky. The U.S. Open Cup is widely regarded as U.S. Soccer's National Championship, as the yearly tournament is open to all teams affiliated with the U.S. Soccer Federation. The winner of the Open Cup is given a berth into the CONCACAF Champions League, where they will play for a chance to go to the FIFA Club World Cup and compete against the best teams in the world.
