Thursday, May 9, 2013

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- After a solid 1-0 win on the road at Rochester last weekend, the Harrisburg City Islanders return to Skyline Sports Complex on Friday night to take on Antigua Barracuda FC at 7 p.m. Morgan Langley scored the only goal of the game against the Rhinos, his first of the season, while Nick Noble recorded five saves to continue a strong start to the season for the City Islanders.

Collecting 12 of a possible 15 points in their first five games, the Islanders are in third place in the league and have played two fewer games than Orlando City, which is currently in first place. A win on Friday will move the Isles within one point of the top spot. The Isles record is 4-1-0, continuing the best start in club history.

Antigua, on the other hand, is winless in its first five games, losing most recently to Orlando last Saturday night. This is the first of two times that the Barracudas will travel to Harrisburg, with the second coming June 16th.

This marks the first home game for captain Jason Pelletier, who was forced to sit out the first four games due to an offseason surgery to repair an injured groin. Although Pelletier was suited up for the May 1st matchup with Charleston he did not played. He saw his first action of the season in the Islanders win at Rochester last weekend.

Along with the strong start with wins the Islanders have also scored in every one of their first five games. The Isles have collected a total of 11 goals with Lucky Mkosana netting a team-high three, which puts him third in the league. Antigua has let in a total of 18 goals in five games and have only scored three.

There will be an Islanders eye black giveaway to the first 1,000 youths that enter the game sponsored by Kelly’s Sporting Goods.

This game also marks the first Craft Brew night for the Islanders and the first brewery is the local Troegs Brewery. The first 100 fans to the Beer Garden located behind the bleachers that are behind the goal will get a free pint glass from the brewery. The brewery will bring a few beers to sample and pints will also be available for purchase.

The Islanders next match will also come at home against current USL PRO leadere Orlando City Lions at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 17. This will feature two of the league’s top offenses. The game will feature the second of six Craft Brew Nights with Travelers Brewing Company coming to Skyline Sports Complex.
