PLAINVIEW, N.Y. - While the Long Island Rough Riders feature international players and out-of-state players, the solid base of homegrown talent is ever present. Amanda Epstein and Deanna Murino have made the transition from local youth player to becoming a part of Long Island’s W-League team.
Epstein, from Jericho, New York attended Jericho High School and now represents Marist College where her eight goals and four assists in 17 games made her the team's leader in goals and points in 2012.
She was named the MAAC Rookie of the Year and the MAAC tournament MVP, as well as being chosen for the MAAC All-Rookie Team and the MAAC All-Tournament Team. She was also named MAAC Rookie of the Week six times.
Like her teammate, Murino relishes the opportunity to play for the Long Island. Murino is a native of Bohemia, New York and went to high school at Connetquot. In her freshman year at St. John’s University she played in 18 games, scoring one goal and adding two assists from midfield.
Show your support this season for your hometown heroes.
