NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The Westchester Flames F.C. have signed defender Mark Kramarchuk for the 2013 USL PDL season. Kramarchuk is from Mt. Vernon, N.Y. and plays soccer collegiately at Bucknell University. Prior to playing at Bucknell, Kramarchuk played for Blau Weiss Gottschee’s U.S. Soccer Developmental Academy and youth soccer programs. While playing at Gottschee, Kramarchuk captained the U16 Academy team and was coached by Giovanni Savarese.
Kramarchuk played high school soccer for Fordham Prep, where he was a High School All-America selection and led his team to a New York state title. Kramarchuk was a NYC CHSAA "AA" first team all-league defender and a three-time first team All-Bronx Varsity Soccer League selection.
Bucknell University Men’s Soccer Coach Brendan Nash described Kramarchuk as "a traditional center back, but could probably play anywhere along the back line. He has a big, solid frame, but is also a technical player. Mark’s biggest asset is his defensive positioning off the ball, which is vital in our system."
"We didn’t have to look far to discover Mark," Flames coach Gus Skoufis said. "He is a great example of the many talented young players in the Westchester area that we’ve seen coming through our system and the other local clubs. We’re delighted that Mark has agreed to play for us this season and hope that the soccer fans in the local community come out to support him."
