ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando City (4-1-1, 13 points) hosts expansion side VSI Tampa Bay FC (3-3-0, 9 points) for the first time on Tuesday night at Fifth Third Bank Field at the Florida Citrus Bowl. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. as the Lions attempt to keep their regular season home unbeaten streak alive through the early part of the 2013 USL PRO season.
“I thought we put in a good performance (Saturday night),” said Orlando City Head Coach Adrian Heath. “We didn’t pick up any knocks and have our attention toward Tuesday.”
Behind three first-half goals, Orlando handed the visiting Dayton Dutch Lions (2-1-0, 6 points) their first loss of the season on Saturday night, taking a 4-0 victory in front of a regular-season record 9,589 fans. Sporting KC loanee Dom Dwyer scored a pair of goals, while Jamie Watson and Dennis Chin added one each as the Lions moved back to the top of the USL PRO standings.
Tuesday’s match brings expansion side VSI Tampa Bay FC to central Florida for the first time. Tampa is led by forward Andriy Budnyy, who has notched two goals through his first six games. Goalkeeper Alexander Horwath has recorded a 1.000 goals against average, putting Tampa into a competitive position in each game they play.
The Lions then wrap up their three game homestand this Saturday night at Fifth Third Bank at the Florida Citrus Bowl against Antigua Barracuda FC. The Barracudas are currently 0-3-0 through three games in 2013. The Lions are 5-1-0 all-time against Antigua, with their only loss coming at home in 2011, the last time Orlando lost at home in the regular season.
