LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The New Jersey Wildcats announced Wednesday that Toms River North High School senior Danae O'Halloran will return to the team this summer. O'Halloran, who was highly recruited by many of the top college soccer programs in the nation, will head to Chapel Hill to play for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels this fall at the conclusion of the upcoming W-League season.
"We are very happy to have Danae return to the Wildcats this fall, and she will play a pivotal role in how well we do this season," Head Coach Kevin McDermott said. "I have truly enjoyed watching Danae develop into an elite soccer player during her time with the Wildcats, and I know she will continue to have great success as she heads off to Chapel Hill to play for UNC in the fall."
O'Halloran spent the past two seasons playing with the full Wildcats side, compiling two goals and a pair of assists in four matches in 2012. The previous year, she contributed two assists to the Wildcats stat sheet. It has not been an easy road to North Carolina for the Toms River native, who has overcome ACL tears to both knees in the past two years to sign with the Tar Heels. UNC is the most successful women's soccer program in college history, winning 22 of the 32 total NCAA College Cups that have been played, including the 2012 National Championship this past fall.
O'Halloran and the Wildcats return to Lions Stadium at The College of New Jersey in Ewing on Wednesday, May 22, hosting the North Jersey Valkyries for their 2013 season opener at 7:45 p.m. Tickets for all Wildcats home matches are now available and can be attained by calling 732-298-7619. Individual game tickets as well as team and family packages are available.
