COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – The Harrisburg City Islanders took their second victory in as many outings as they defeated the Colorado Rapids Reserves 2-1 on Saturday night at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in an interleague contest. Cris Hernandez and Greg Jordan, both with the City Islanders under their partnership agreement with the Philadelphia Union, scored the goals for Harrisburg as they claimed their 99th victory in club history.

The City Islanders got off to an ideal start as Hernandez opened the scoring in just the second minute. After Sainey Touray and Colin Zizzi forced a turnover in the Rapids end, the ball came to Hernandez 20 yards from goal. The forward cut onto his left foot and rifled a finish just inside the right post for a 1-0 lead.

Hernandez came close to adding to the City Islanders lead just before the halftime break, only for his effort to ring off the crossbar. The Rapids would get back on even terms 10 minutes into the second half, Dillon Serna finding the back of the net, but Hernandez played provider in the 64th minute as Jordan restored the City Islanders’ lead. The goal would prove decisive, as Harrisburg became the first USL PRO side to defeat an MLS Reserve side in interleague play this season.

Harrisburg will now have the opportunity to claim the franchise’s 100th victory at home next weekend as it hosts the Rochester Rhinos at Skyline Sports Complex at 7 p.m. Visit www.cityislanders.com to buy season or single-game tickets as the City Islanders celebrate their 10th anniversary season.
