HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The Philadelphia Union will travel to Harrisburg to take on their USL PRO affiliate partner, the Harrisburg City Islanders, in an exhibition match on Tuesday, June 18 at Skyline Sports Complex. The match, which kicks off at 7 p.m., will be the fourth time that these two clubs have played each other in a friendly since they became official partners in March 2010.
Tickets are available at www.cityislanders.com at rates of $20 for adults (ages 18 and older) and $15 for youth (ages 4-18). Group rates are also available at $15 for 20 or more adults or $12 for 20 or more children.
Philadelphia Union and the Harrisburg City Islanders announced on March 6 that the clubs expanded their partnership, allowing players to stay, practice and play vital games with their USL counterparts for an extended period of time. The Union will no longer field a Reserve League team, instead incorporating reserve players into the City Islanders to help the team compete for a USL PRO championship.
Officially signed in March of 2010, the original partnership with Harrisburg provided the Union with an option to loan players to the Islanders for increased playing time, as well as scout up and coming talent, such as Union starting right back Sheanon Williams, who suited up for the City Islanders in 2010.
The Harrisburg City Islanders began their 2013 USL PRO campaign last Saturday, as the club defeated the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, 2-1. The Islanders will play their home opener at Skyline Sports Complex on April 27 against the Rochester Rhinos.
