JUNCOS, Puerto Rico -- After a few days of deserved rest and training after return from Antigua, Sevilla FC Puerto Rico will return to USL PRO competition as they host International Division rivals Puerto Rico United on Friday at 8 p.m. at Juncos Stadium.
Sevilla earned its first win of the season while in Antigua, splitting a pair of games with Antigua Barracuda FC last weekend to give the club five points from five games so far in the league. Friday’s contest will be a great opportunity for Sevilla to earn its first win at home after dropping their home opener to the Los Angeles Blues.
After just missing out on victory in the club’s first match against PR United earlier this month, a stoppage-time goal by Hector Ramos earning United a 1-1 draw in Carolina, Sevilla is aiming for revenge for the side considers was a missed opportunity.
While it was able to earn a 2-2 draw against Orlando City last Friday, Puerto Rico United is coming off a 7-0 defeat against Antigua on Wednesday afternoon that saw Peter Byers score four goals in the first half.
Sevilla coach Francis Muñoz doesn’t expect the many changes to his starting line-up, but he was glad to be able to have a few extra days of training with the side since their arrival back from Antigua. The team is hoping to build on the positive elements of last weekend’s game, such as the performances of forwards Alain Gustave and Eli Gordley, who will be key players if the team is to have success for the next few games.
