CHARLESTON, W.V. -- The West Virginia Chaos are pleased to announce the appointment of former W.V. Chaos player and current volunteer assistant coach of University of Charleston, Predrag “Petsa” Ivanovic, as the new Head Coach of the team.
Ivanovic is in his first year with the UC Men's soccer staff. After finishing his collegiate career at Jacksonville University, Ivanovic returned to University of Charleston as the assistant coach for men's soccer program, where as a player in 2009 he helped the team to WVIAC/East Region title, thus earning the All-American accolades for his efforts.
Better known in the community as "Petsa", he has worked with many individuals and youth travel teams in Charleston, WV. Under Chris Grassie's guidance, who he replaces on the Chaos bench this year, Ivanovic was also a player/assistant for West Virginia Chaos PDL team in the franchise's most successful season so far in 2012. “Petsa” returns to the team for the fifth consecutive year but this time as a player coach.
“I’m extremely honored to take on a coaching role and be part of the West Virginia Chaos organization once again," said Ivanovic, who has been playing with the Chaos since 2009. "It is one of the very promising PDL programs in the country and I am very excited to take on the challenge and begin the new season.”
“Petsa has always been a solid and very consistent player during my time with the West Virginia Chaos," said West Virginia Chaos owner Bob Johns. "He was not only a leader on and off the field but also a mentor to all the other players. We look forward to having him back to continue his leadership and mentorship in his new role as a player coach.”
Ivanovic will begin his career as a Head Coach against another West Virginian PDL franchise, the Southern West Virginia King’s Warriors on Saturday, May 18th at 7 p.m. in Beckley, W.V. The game will take place at the YMCA soccer complex in Beckley, West Virginia.
