WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Wilmington Hammerheads are pleased to announce the return of 2012 All-USL PRO Second Team midfielder Bryce Taylor for his second consecutive season with the team. Taylor made his debut in USL PRO last season with the Hammerheads appearing in all 24 regular season games while tallying five goals and three assists.
Taylor came out strongly at the start of the 2012 USL PRO regular season, scoring his first career goal against Orlando City during the Hammerheads’ first match of the season. A key player in the outside midfield, Taylor was voted by Hammerheads supporters as ‘Rookie of the Year’ for the 2012 season with his impressive inaugural season performance.
“I’m very excited to be returning to Wilmington for another season,” said Taylor. “I have high expectations for both the team and myself this year. We came so close last year, therefore nothing less than bringing a championship back to Wilmington will do.”
Head Coach David Irving scouted Taylor during the 2012 USL PRO Combine, which provides opportunities for some of the best players from U.S. collegiate soccer and USL’s Premier Development League (PDL) to show their potential in front of USL PRO clubs. Prior to the Hammerheads, Taylor played for PDL’s Mississippi Brilla following his stint at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas.
The Wilmington Hammerheads kick off their 2013 USL PRO regular season at Legion Stadium on Friday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. against Antigua Barracuda FC.
