WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – The Bay Area Breeze have named former Australian U17 Women’s National Team Coach Vicki Linton as head coach, General Manager Maria Lashinger announced today. A two-time championship qualifier with the U17 Australian Women’s National Team, Linton has signed a two-year deal with the Breeze and is expected to provide an immediate contribution to the club’s inaugural season in the W-League.
A native of Sydney, Australia, Linton spent two seasons as head coach with the Melbourne Victory of the Australian W-League, posting some of the best records in club history and remaining undefeated at home in the 2012 season.
“We are extremely fortunate to work with a coach of Vicki’s caliber, and we are excited about the level of prrofessionalism, knowledge, and talent that she brings to the Breeze organization,” Lashinger said.
Linton enjoyed a successful career as a professional player before taking her first coaching job as an assistant with the New South Wales Sapphires in Sydney in 1999. Linton was named head coach of the New South Wales U17 State Team in 2000, where she won two National Championships. Linton spent one seasoon in the United States as the assistant coach of the W-League's Boston Renegades.

I am grateful for the opportunity and trust that they have given me to lead the team into the W-League this season on a full-time basis,” Linton said. “The Breeze are leading the way in the W-League and I am really looking forward to being a part of the club at this exciting time.”
The Breeze will open their 2013 W-League season on May 25 against the Santa Clarita Blue Heat.
