TUKWILA, WA. – The Seattle Sounders Women have signed Australian Under-20 Women’s National Team member Hannah Brewer for the 2013 W-League campaign. The defender joins the Sounders Women from the Newcastle Jets of the Australian W-League.
“We are pleased to have Hannah join us this year," said Sounders Women head coach and general manager Hubert Busby Jr. "Hannah has all the qualities needed to be a senior international player for Australia.”
In 2009, at age 15, Brewer became the youngest player ever signed by the Newcastle Jets. The outside-back appeared 29 times for the Jets spending four seasons with the club. Just 19 years old Brewer carries a wealth of experience representing Australia, playing with the Jets, and now moving overseas to join the Sounders.
“She has tremendous poise and maturity for a player her age," added Busby.
From Blue Ray on the central coast of Australia Brewer has earned caps at both the U-17 and U-20 levels and represented Australia at the U-17 World Cup.
The Sounders Women open up preseason on April 14 against Oregon State University. Single match and season tickets are currently on sale on SoundersWomen.com.
