“Last season ended very abruptly for us at the hands of the Orlando City U23 in Florida and this upcoming season feels as we have to come out and demonstrate once again that we can win the division and go beyond the conference playoffs and well into the finals, those are the expectations we bring every PDL season.
“Opening up versus a quality team like the Bravos in our home field will give both players and coaches a feel for what I expect in this my second season and I am very happy that the administration was able to get this game set up and I promise our team will be ready to play”.
In addition to the game versus the Bravos de Nuevo Laredo, the Heat will also have two preseason matches prior to the home opener.
On Saturday, April 13th, the Heat will travel to Austin, TX to play the St. Edward’s University Hilltoppers and on Sunday, April 21st, Laredo will make the short drive to San Antonio to face the University of Incarnate Word Cardinals.
Both preseason games will help Hernandez and his assistants, former players Dany Galvan and Carlos Ordaz, evaluate the progress of the team and it will also allow them to see how the new players are conforming to their new play system and experienced players.
