RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Kickers are pleased to announce that veteran midfielder, Luke Vercollone, has agreed to terms for the 2013 season, pending USSF approval.
“We are fortunate that Luke wanted to play one more season in Richmond,” said Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers Director of Soccer. “Over the years, he has demonstrated his value to the club and to re-sign such an experienced and talented player so close to the start of the season is a major boost to the team.”
After spending the offseason training with the Colorado Rapids, Vercollone returns to Richmond for his sixth season. Splitting time between the defense and the midfield, the Kickers workhorse has made 127 appearances and accumulated nearly 11,000 minutes with the Kickers while tallying six goals and 10 assists. Additionally, he is the founder and director of the Richmond Kickers Little Kicks program, which brings a soccer enrichment program to preschools.
A native of Pembroke, Mass., Vercollone spent two seasons with the Charleston Battery, where he made 66 appearances, notching three goals and six assists for 12 points overall. The 5-foot-10 midfielder began his career when he was drafted by the Columbus Crew in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft and made five appearances over two seasons with the New England Revolution.
