TAMPA, Fla. - The Super Y-League is mourning the passing of Christina Ginley, who died in a car accident Friday in Virginia while en route to the Jefferson Cup Tournament. Ginley, a member of the Quickstrike FC '95 Girls who played  for both Quickstrike and the New York Magic in the super Y-League, was a senior at Warwick (N.Y.) High School.

According to the Quickstrike FC website, Ginley was active in many local charitable causes; her latest accomplishment was collecting more than 50 pairs of glasses for the Lions Club. She volunteered with the NY Blood Drive, Meals on Wheels and ran a fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project during the Fall.

Ginley was an excellent student and member of Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society with an overall average of 95. She was a four-year NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete for varsity soccer and was named captain of the team this past Fall at Warwick High. Ginley planned to attend college to pursue her education in the medical field and further her dreams and goals of playing soccer at the collegiate level.

Teams observed a moment of silence for Ginley prior to games at the Jefferson Cup. A funeral mass is planned for Wednesday at St. Stephen's Church in Warwick.
