CHARLESTON, S.C. -- After a tough week of contests with three top MLS clubs in the Carolina Challenge Cup, the Charleston Battery will definitely have their wits about them heading into the heart of preseason. The Battery start with a game against College of Charleston on Thursday, February 28 at Patriots Point to kick off a nine-game preseason schedule in preparation for the beginning of the USL PRO season in April.
“I think the team has progressed nicely under the circumstances and we have gained some valuable experience playing against quality MLS opponents that will really help us going into the season,” said Battery head coach Mike Anhaeuser.
The Battery’s next home game will be on March 5 against Georgia Southern at 8 p.m.. The match will be the first of five preseason home games for the Battery, including a highly anticipated rematch of last years USL PRO Championship Game with nearby rival the Wilmington Hammerheads on March 23.
The final preseason game is on March 30 against the Carolina Railhawks as the Battery prepare for their USL PRO opener on Saturday, April 13 on the road against the Richmond Kickers. The Battery’s regular-season home opener is set for Saturday, April 20 against Antigua Barracuda FC at Blackbaud Stadium.
All preseason home games are free to attend except for Saturday, March 23 against the Wilmington Hammerheads; tickets for this game will be $7 for bleacher seats and $12 for club seats. Group discounts are available through the Battery ticket office.
