TUCSON, Ariz. — FC Tucson, in conjunction with Pima County, announced plans for a brand new 2,000-seat stadium to be opened by 2014 on the site of Field #1 at Kino Sports Complex North. In addition to the new stadium, which will become the new home for FC Tucson, Pima County also plans to add a sixth field at Kino Sports Complex North.

“Pima County’s commitment to soccer, and the pace at which the County is developing Kino Sports Complex as a soccer facility, is remarkable,” said FC Tucson co-managing member Greg Foster. “FC Tucson could not ask for a better partner in our mission to convert the region’s passion for the game into enhanced opportunities for youth and amateur soccer and bigger and better professional soccer events. Pima County is creating a new cultural asset for our community and FC Tucson is honored to be involved.”

As part of Pima County’s $2 million investment, the new home of FC Tucson will feature a new scoreboard and a home stand that will fit 2,000 spectators and have an overhang to shade crowds from the sun and project the sound toward the field, elevating the energy level. Pima County’s investment will also include a brand new main entrance for Kino Sports Complex North in addition to new concessions and restroom facilities. There are also plans to add a sixth soccer field to the complex on the ground’s south end.

The county project is expected to finish in time for FC Tucson’s 2014 season.

Fans can reserve a seat at the new stadium by purchasing 2013 season tickets, which go on sale at Noon today. Season ticket packages are $100 ($10/game) and will include seven PDL dates plus three additional matches to be determined. The first 1,600 fans to purchase 2013 season tickets will be guaranteed a chance to order 2014 season tickets at the new stadium.

“This stadium and grounds are a wonderful investment in Tucson pride and authentic soccer culture,” said FC Tucson Chief Business Officer Chris Keeney. “The new home for FC Tucson will allow us to create a terrific atmosphere and energy surrounding all of our matches and establish our own version of the groundswell for soccer happening all across the country. Order season passes today for 2013 and lock up your legacy in 2014."

Tickets can be purchased at fctucson.ticketsocket.com/seasonpackage2013 beginning at noon today.
