RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Kickers are pleased to kick off the 2013 preseason schedule with an exhibition against the Carolina RailHawks on Saturday, March 2. The match, which is slated for 7 p.m. at Ukrop Park, will serve as the showcase game during the weekend’s Ultimate Cup Tournament, hosted jointly by the Richmond Kickers and Chesterfield United. Tickets are on sale now for $10 and space is limited to just 500 seats. Special rates are available for Ultimate Cup participants.
In addition to the Pro-Am Challenge featuring NCAA Finalists Georgetown University scheduled for March 16, the Kickers will face a lineup of closed door preseason scrimmages including games against George Mason University, The College of William & Mary, Longwood University and James Madison University. With a roster combining Kickers veterans and trialists vying for professional contracts, the Kickers will take on local favorites Virginia Commonwealth University during their second Pro Combine on Saturday, March 23.
"We have assembled a highly competitive preseason schedule against talented opponents who we respect greatly,” said Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers Director of Soccer. “However, this preseason will focus much less on our competitors and much more on the qualities, values and habits needed to produce a successful USL PRO and Open Cup campaign."
