CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Charleston Battery has agreed to terms with midfielder Cole Peverley for the 2011 USL Pro season. Peverley joins Charleston from New Zealand’s Hawke’s Bay United. Peverley has represented New Zealand at the U20, Olympic and full national team levels he joins the Battery subject to USL and USSF approval.
Charleston Battery head coach and GM, Mike Anhaeuser said, “Cole has a lot of youth international experience and will look to make a stamp on our midfield right away. He should bring a lot of quality to the middle and we look forward to his debut with the Battery organization and with the team.”
A native of Wellington, NZ, Peverley, 5-11, 170 lbs, 22 yrs., began his professional career with Hawke’s Bay United at the start of the 2007-08 season going on to make 45 appearances for Hawke's Bay over two seasons. After two years with Hawke's Bay United, Peverley moved back to his hometown to play for NZFC club Team Wellington before switching back to Hawke’s Bay for the 2010 season.
Peverley represented New Zealand at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing where he played in all three group matches against China (1-1), Brazil (0-5) and Belgium (0-1); he made his full All Whites debut in a 0-2 loss against Fiji on 19 November 2008.
