DAYTON, Ohio - Dayton Dutch Lions FC is happy to announce the hiring of Catherine Gordon as the W-League team's assistant coach. Gordon brings more than 12 years of coaching and 25 years playing experience. A former W-League goalkeeper for the New Jersey Wildcats, she most recently served as their goalkeeper coach from 2010-12.
Gordon was also the assistant/goalkeeper coach for the FDU Knights women’s soccer team for five years and most recently the assistant/goalkeeper coach for the City College of New York men's team, which reached the conference semifinals this year. She has also served as the boys varsity goalkeeping coach for Rancocas Valley High School since 2006. The Rancocas Valley boys team was the 2008 state champion and 2009 coaches tournament champs.
Since 2006, Gordon has been a director at Star Goalkeeper Academy and a goalkeeper coach for New Jersey Olympic Development Program. In 2012 she joined the NY Red Bulls as a goalkeeper coach in their Regional Development School program, and also became a full staff member of Region I ODP.
“I am extremely happy and excited to welcome Catherine to the club and the women’s program," Head Coach Sid van Druenen said. "It was important for me to have a female coach as part of the coaching staff and think we found the perfect fit. Catherine has tons of experience as a coach and as a player, knows what the reality and demands of the W-League are and the DDL W-League players can learn a lot from her.”
