Super Y-League News Release
Thursday, December 20, 2012
TAMPA, Fla. - The Super Y-League is pleased to announce the players nominated and selected for the 2012/13 SYL Olympic Development Program National Camps. Each nominated player has been identified as one of the top players in their birth year, and among the top two percent of players in the Super Y-League.
The ODP Program, which brings together top players from across the United States and Canada, is a crucial component of the USL Super Y-League, offering the best players from the U13 to U17 age groups a chance to receive top-quality coaching and the opportunity to be scouted by U.S. National Team and college coaches. This year’s ODP age groups will feature the top players (approximately 192 girls & 192 boys) from the U13/U14 and U15/U16 age divisions.
The camps will once again be held at the world-class facilities of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, home to the U.S. Soccer U-17 Residency Program and site of the recent Super Y-League North American Finals. USL National Technical Director Peter Mellor, who has spent the past 19 years as a member of the U.S. National Staff and 26 years as an ODP coach, will direct the camps.
The world’s largest and most advanced multi-sport training and education complex, IMG Academy has hosted myriad soccer team training camps in 2012, including clubs such as the Seattle Sounders, D.C. United, Columbus Crew, Sweden’s Malmö FF, as well as the U.S. Women’s National Team preparing for the London Olympic Games and the Antigua & Barbuda Men’s National Team preparing for World Cup qualifying.
The dates for the Super Y-League ODP National Camps are as follows (includes Thursday arrival day):
February 21-24, 2013 U13/U14 Boys, U15/U16 Boys
