CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Charleston Battery head coach Mike Anhaeuser will be in Kingston, Jamaica over the next few days visiting with Charleston Battery players Dane Kelly and Navion Boyd in addition to watching several Jamaican Premier League matches. The Battery has a long tradition of signing or loaning Jamaican players dating back to the 1993 season.
In 2012 Dane Kelly and Navion Boyd both played for the Charleston Battery on loan from Tivoli Gardens while Dino Williams was loaned to the Battery from Village United. All three players contributed to the Battery’s championship winning team with Kelly leading the way scoring six goals and adding two assists in 19 games played.
Charleston Battery head coach, Mike Anhaeuser, stated “We are heading down to strengthen our relationships and recruit players as we have had success over the past several seasons on bringing players in from Jamaica.”
Following the visit to Jamaica the Charleston Battery staff will head to Clearwater, FL for the USL PRO AGM.

Tickets for the 2013 Carolina Challenge Cup featuring Major League Soccer are on sale now with single day tickets (includes two games each day) starting at just $15 with discounts available for groups of ten or more. Series tickets that include tickets for all three match days (includes six games) are also available. 2013 Charleston Battery season ticket holders receive complimentary tickets to the games.
The Carolina Challenge Cup is the premier pre-season tournament in the US. Each year for the past decade the Battery is joined by three teams from Major League Soccer for the round-robin competition. The 2013 edition features the MLS Cup runners-up Houston Dynamo, Chicago Fire and Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
