PHOENIX – Phoenix FC, Arizona’s premier professional soccer franchise celebrating its inaugural season in 2013, has signed two more players to its current roster. Player contracts have been completed with Defender Devin Grousis and Midfielder Diego Faria.
The 24-year-old Grousis is a native of Fresno, Calif. and played last season with USL PRO’s Charlotte Eagles, and had previously played for the PDL's Fresno Fuego. The contract is signed by all parties and is pending final United States Soccer Federation (USSF) approval.
Faria, 23 years old, is a former member of the Brazilian youth national team, most recently played for America T.O. in his hometown of Teofilo Otoni, Brazil. Faria will be eligible to play once USL has received his work authorization and he has received his International Transfer Clearance (ITC). Faria’s contract is also pending USSF approval.
“After a successful season playing for the Charlotte Eagles, Devon has been a target of several MLS clubs. We moved quickly with an offer, and Devon was impressed with the type of team we are forming. We’re thrilled to have him”, said General Manager Rui Filipe Bento. “Diego is a fast, attacking midfielder with international experience, and he too will prove to be a valuable asset to the team”.
Per club policy, financial details of player contracts will not be disclosed.
