ORLANDO, Fla. – Hot on the heels of the announcement that Newcastle United is coming to Central Florida, Orlando City Soccer Club is proud to announce English Premier League side Bolton Wanderers is also coming to Orlando. Bolton will train for a week in Orlando before playing Orlando City in an international friendly game on Sunday, July 17th. The match will be played at the Citrus Bowl.
“It is great news that we can bring both Newcastle and Bolton to Orlando,” said Orlando City President Phil Rawlins. “Over the past few years Bolton have established themselves as a top class EPL team and under Owen Coyle’s leadership they have become an exciting attacking team to watch. We are delighted they have chosen to come to Orlando and play us in their preseason preparation.”
Bolton, semifinalists in this season’s F.A. Cup, are coming to Orlando as part of their 2011 North American tour. They currently sit in eighth place in the English Premier League, considered the world’s most difficult professional soccer league. The Wanderers will also be visiting Houston on July 20th to play Major League Soccer’s Houston Dynamo. American international Stuart Holden is a regular starter for Bolton.
Bolton Wanderers is the second announced international opponent Orlando City is bringing to Central Florida this summer. Newcastle United, also of the English Premier League, comes to Orlando on July 23rd. Both matches are part of the Orlando City season ticket package. Individual game ticket information for both the Bolton and Newcastle matches will be announced soon.
