Syracuse Silver Knights News Release -- www.syracusesilverknights.com

Friday, October 12, 2012

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse Silver Knights are pleased to announce the re-signing of last season’s most dangerous offensive weapon in Slavisa Ubiparapovic, as well as the club's defensive rock and assistant coach, Ryan Hall.

Last season, Ubiparapovic stormed the MISL with a blistering rookie campaign, leading the Knights in goals, assists, and points while playing in all 24 games. He earned league honors by being selected to the MISL All-Rookie Team, and was distinguished for his outstanding season by earning the prestigious award of MISL Rookie of the Year.

“I am very excited to be on the field for the Knights and Coach Tommy [Tanner],” said the 25-year-old from Mentor, Ohio. “I’m really excited for everyone to return to Syracuse for training camp and to see the returning guys and meet the new signings. Last season, we had a great team, but the lack of indoor experience definitely hurt us and kept us from making the playoffs. With most of us now having a year of experience, I expect that we will be more able to close out games when we have the opportunity and ultimately make the playoffs. There is no reason why we should not be able to achieve that goal. I would like to thank Coach Tommy and the staff for giving me a chance to serve them in the upcoming season.”

Hall, a 10-year veteran in professional soccer, returns to the Silver Knights as one of the team’s top defensive players and Coach Tommy Tanner’s assistant coach. After suffering an injury during opening night in 2011, Hall returned strong for the Knights, competing in 18 of the team’s 24 games, scoring two goals, and blocking 21 shots, third-most on the Silver Knights’ roster.

“I’m excited to be back for the team’s second season,” said the 31-year-old alumnus of Syracuse University. “We have a good core returning and are bringing in some great veteran players. We are expecting great things for Syracuse this season both on and off the field.”

The Silver Knights kick of action on Friday, November 2nd at the Oncenter War Memorial Arena at 7:30 PM against the Chicago Soul.
