TAMPA, Fla. - Former W-League standout Juliana Libertin earned her second consecutive Atlantic 10 Player of the Week nod after tallying two goals and two assists in Dayton’s victories against Boston University and Northwestern. Libertin leads the list of W-League alums honored for their college performances this past week.
A former Cleveland Internationals standout, Libertin was joined in being honored by Dayton teammate Ashley Campbell, a 2012 member of the Toronto Lady Lynx. Campbell was chosen as A10 Rookie of the Week after scoring the game-winning overtime goal against Boston University.
Also being honored for the second consecutive week is Rutgers redshirt-junior Jonelle Filigno, who once again earned Big East Offensive Player of the Week honors. The former Vancouver Whitecaps and Toronto Lady Lynx standout scored twice, including the game-winner, in a 2-1 victory against Bucknell. Former Bradenton Academics standout Erika Tymrak scored the game-winner and helped create the other goal as the Florida Gators upset No. 2 Duke this past weekend. Tymrak was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts.
Top Drawer Soccer released its Team of the Week on Monday, with Toronto Lady Lynx forward Cloe Lacasse included on the list after she scored twice and added two assists for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Libertin was also included on the TDS list.
Northern Virginia Majestics veteran Lindsey Ottavio was honored as Big South Attacking Player of the Week after she scored twice to lead Longwood to a 2-1 victory against Richmond. Goalkeeper Ryan Torrero, who suited up for the 2012 Pali Blues, was named Defensive Player of the Week after helping Campbell to a 1-1 draw with Francis Marion.
Florida State junior goalkeeper Kelsey Wys was named ACC Player of the Week after helping the top-ranked Seminoles to a 1-0 shutout victory against No. 9 UCF. Wys, a 2010 member of the Colorado Rush, made four saves to earn the 21st shutout of her college career.
In the America East Conference, Caitlin Pfeiffer earned Player of the Week honors as Stony Brook had a 2-0 week. Pfeiffer, who played for the Rochester Ravens this summer, scored the game-winner as Stony Brook earned its first win since 1998 against Big East competition with a 3-0 upset of St. John’s on Sunday.
Penn State star Christine Nairn, who played for D.C. United Women in 2011, was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week after tallying three goals in victories against Stanford and Central Michigan.
