WILMINGTON, N.C. – Wilmington’s City Manager Sterling Cheatham made the executive decision Saturday night to postpone the Hammerheads' USL PRO 2011 season opener against the Rochester Rhinos due to severe thunderstorms in the area.
The threat of severe weather was imminent all day in Wilmington. Calling the game was a tough decision for both parties involved, but the safety of players and fans is of utmost importance to the City of Wilmington and the Wilmington Hammerheads.
Saturday night’s game between the Hammerheads and the Rhinos has been rescheduled for Sunday, April 17. Kickoff will be at 2 p.m.
The Hammerheads would like to thank all the fans who came out Saturday night despite the threatening weather and encourage fans to come back out for the rescheduled match on Sunday.
