Texas Dutch Lions News Release -- www.dutchlionsfc.com

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Texas Dutch Lions are proud to announce the signing of former TDL FC forward Furghill Zeldenrust to the Dutch Eredivisie club RKC Waalwijk. Zeldenrust was given an unique opportunity to try out for the Eredivisie Club RKC Waalwijk, and earned a contract for the upcoming season.

While on trial, Zeldenrust played for RKC Waalwijk in its recent preseason contest against Dutch First Division club FC Den Bosch. His strong skills and active game play were noticed, and after one week of training he signed a one-year contract with the club. Zeldenrust's new club finished ninth in the Eredivisie last season, their first in the top flight after the club won the First Division title in the 2010-11 season.

Zeldenrust had a strong 2012 PDL season with the Dutch Lions, scoring five goals and adding three assists in 13 games as the club finished fourth in the Mid South Division in its inaugural season. But now, just under two weeks since his final game of the season against the West Texas Sockers on July 14, the 23-year-old will get the chance to play top-flight soccer in his native Holland. The Eredivisie season begins in 11 days, with Zeldenrust and his RKC Waalwijk facing Mark van Bommel and PSV Eindhoven to open the season.

The Dutch Lions are very pleased to see Zeldenrust get the opportunity to take his game to the professional ranks, and hope he is the first of many players at the club who will get to live their professional dreams.
