DAYTON, Ohio - The Dayton Dutch Lions FC will make its debut in USL PRO this Saturday at home to the Charleston Battery at 7.30 p.m. Opening the season at home, Miami Valley South Stadium, the Dutch Lions are aiming for a victory. Title sponsor for the opening match, Typical Dutch Stuff, will be giving away typical Dutch food and souvenirs for this “All Things Dutch Night”.

Saturday’s match will be broadcast live at USLLive.com or fans can follow the game on twitter @DaytonDutchLion. Tickets are available now at DutchLionsFC.com.

“The match will be a test for the team. Charleston is a strong opponent but the team is prepared and feeling confident going into the game. I have complete trust that Ivar and the players will put on a good showing for the fans,” said Technical Director Cor van Hoeven.

The Battery defeated the Charlotte Eagles last weekend by a score of 1-0 in their opening game of the season. In 2010 the Battery earned their third USL championship; the Battery won the USL 2-title in 1996 and the USL-1 title in 2003. Lead by head coach Mike Anhaeuser, the Battery will be a true test for the Dutch.

The Dutch American club returns seven players including experienced central midfielder Julius Willie. Newcomers to the team and players to watch for the Lions include forward Kolby LaCrone, attacking mid fielder Marvin van der Pluijm, and 2010 USL Premier Development League Defender of the Year Joe Tait.

Head coach Ivar van Dinteren, former Dutch Lion player, has high expectations for his young but talented team. This will mark Dinteren’s first season as head coach. Utilizing the Dutch philosophy of futbol the team is technically and tactically extremely sound.
