CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Charleston Battery square off with the Wilmington Hammerheads on Saturday night at Blackbaud Stadium; gates open at 6 p.m. with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. ($10 - $18, 971-4625 / www.charlestonbattery.com). The Battery (10-6) enters the game looking to bounce back from a pair of losses suffered last weekend against the Charlotte Eagles.
Charleston lost 2-0 to the Charlotte Eagles on Friday night at Blackbaud Stadium and then on Saturday lost 1-0 in the return fixture played in Charlotte.
The Battery are currently in third position in the USL PRO standings, two points behind the second-placed Rochester Rhinos and 10 points behind league-leading Orlando City. Charleston has played two games fewer than Rochester and one game fewer than Orlando.
Goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra has been loaned to the Battery from Major League Soccer’s D.C. United and will be available for selection on Saturday night. Dykstra has spent much of the season on loan with the Battery and currently leads USL PRO with a GAA of 0.538 through 13 games played.
The Battery will play Wilmington twice more in 2012, at home on August 3 and away on August 4. In 2011 the Battery also played Wilmington three times winning twice and losing once.
Wilmington has strengthened its squad in recent weeks adding two players. Cody Arnoux signed after spending the last two years with Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake and Charles Rodriguez was previously captain of the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.
Wilmington tied Rochester 0-0 on Thursday night in Wilmington. The Hammerheads (7-5-5) remains unbeaten at home and enters the weekend in fourth position in the USL standings.
